AIR CUP LIFT SYSTEM
A perfect combination of airride and coilovers. With air cup suspension you keep the ride quality and performance of your coilovers and have the ability to raise your car with the push of a button. A great system for show, track, drift or daily driven cars.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It is basically an air cylinder on top of your coilover. Normally you will drive low, without the cups pressurized. Whenever you need to pass an obstacle, such as a speed bump or a driveway, you can apply pressure to the cups and it will raise your car with 50mm.
The air cup lift system will fit on 90% of any brand coilovers. Though your coilover must meet a certain dimensional requirement, otherwise, the system will not fit.
• 2 air cups
2 year warranty on the air cups.
Please make sure you order the right size.
Note: Please place in notes shaft size needed when ordering or shoot an email to us at email@example.com for assistance.
The air cups will fit any brand coilovers, as long as they meet the requirments.
Please follow the steps below to ensure fitment before placing orders.
CHECKING COILOVER CLEARANCE AND SPRINGS.
The air cups can only be installed on linear springs, it will not fit on ''shaped'' springs as shown in the figure. In some situations shaped springs can be changed to linear springs.
Measure the thickest part of the shaft, we strongly recommend to measure with a caliper.
Air cups are available for coilover shaft diameters: 12,5mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 40mm* and 45mm*
Minimum inner diameter: 61mm. (57mm on request)
The lift from the air cups comes from the droop / rebound of the coilovers. If you don't have enough droop, the air cups simply can't lift the full 50mm. A side effect of this is that when the air cups can't lift the full 50mm, the remaining lift will be compressing the spring. Depending on how much, this can cause a stiffer ride when aired up. (without the system in use, it won't affect your coilovers in any way) If you're using the standard spring rates that came with your coilovers, it should be fine
WHAT IS DROOP?
Droop, also called rebound, is basically the amount of travel you have between ride height and full extension. Too much preload will decrease droop, we recommend to set a minimal preload. If you're using extreme high spring rates, higher than the original rates that came with your coilovers, the weight of the car won't compress the springs enough to create enough droop. This problem can be solved by installing helper springs, these will create enough droop for the air cups to lift.
The air cup lift system will only fit on linear springs, it will not fit on ''shaped'' springs as shown in the figure. If you have ''shaped'' springs, it's most times possible to install linear springs.
High spring rates:
If you're using extreme high spring rates, higher than the original rates that came with your coilovers, then it's possible that you can't use the full 50mm lift from the air cups. Due to the extreme high spring rates, the weight of the car won't compress the springs and damper enough to create a stroke for the air cups to lift. This can be solved by using helper springs.
• The diameter of the air cup is 120 mm. (110mm air cups available on request)
• The fitting is 17mm.
The air cup is only 20mm thick in the lowest position. Depending on your coilovers and vehicle, the air cups will take up a certain space. In most cases this is 20 to 30mm. If you have enough travel left on your coilovers to lower it, it won't be a problem. If not, you can install shorter springs to compensate this.
The air cup lift system will fit on 90% of any brand coilovers. Your coilover must meet a certain dimensional requirement, otherwise the system will not fit.
* Limited for 40mm cups: 1750 kg / 3850 lbs (max axle weight: 1150 kg / 2500 lbs) The process of assembly is clearly described in the manual. Click here for an online view of the manual.
An air cup lift system is also known as air cup suspension, an air cup kit or a coilover lift system.
CUSTOM REAR CUPS (Separate Shock & Spring)
LIMITED APPLICATIONCustom rear cups are available for cars with a separate rear spring and shock. So far only available for BMW E90 / F30 / F80 series and the 350z platform (350z 370z, g35, g37, genesis coupe). Possible available for more cars, but not tested yet.
INSTALLATION:The custom rear cup will take 30mm of height, If there is enough thread left spring perch to lower the springs, it won't be a problem. If not, you will need to install shorter springs. For the 350z platform, keep in mind that if you don't have a linear spring adapter yet, this also will take 30mm of height.
Recommended spring lenghts:
- BMW E90 / F30 / F80 series: 180mm
- 350z platform: 160mm
- Linear springs needed. For the 350z platform you can use a linear spring adapter to install linear springs
- Minimal spring lenght before installing the rear air cups: 210mm
- Spring perch thread diameter: max 50mm (Suitable spring perche)
- Minimum spring inner diameter: 61mm
- Maximum spring outer diameter: 105mm
CUSTOM REAR CUP SPECIFICATIONS:- Diameter: 130mm
- Height: 75mm
- Air cup stroke: 25mm (results in 40-50mm actual lift)
- Air cup thickness: 30mm
